"You don't have to rush to Washington, London or Paris; Global South countries have an initiative in their own hands to promote peace and stop wars," said a former Pakistani minister.

Pakistan's role in hosting the latest Iran–US negotiations reflects the growing influence of middle powers in global diplomacy, according to Mushahid Hussain Sayed, former minister of Information and Culture of Pakistan.

Sayed called the talks a historic diplomatic achievement, noting that the two sides had not held direct negotiations for decades before meeting in Islamabad.

He said the experience demonstrates how countries from the Global South can play a more active role in promoting dialogue and helping ease regional tensions.
