How Gen Z sees the world: Brazilian student on China's growth, social equity

Global Stringer

Gabriel Valdetaro, a Brazilian student living in Beijing, has been fascinated by how China has managed to promote social equality while sustaining rapid economic growth, ensuring that ordinary people also benefit from the country's development.

In this episode, he visits Beijing's historic hutongs and older neighborhoods to explore how urban renewal programs, together with expanded access to public services, have improved living conditions for residents in the city.

"Economic growth alone cannot erase inequality," he says. "China's approach is proving that it's possible to have economic growth and diminish inequality at the same time."
