Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Saturday he had spoken with US President Donald Trump by phone on US Independence Day, discussing the latest developments on the front line in the conflict with Russia.
In a social media post, Zelenskyy said he had a "very good" conversation with Trump and he thanked the US for its help throughout the conflict.
"There is a real prospect to end this war and American resolve will have a crucial meaning," he said.
Zelenskyy said he and Trump had agreed to continue their discussions at next week's NATO summit in Türkiye.
