An elderly man who fell into a deep water-filled pit while trying to rescue a sheep was saved thanks to the quick actions of a young couple and passing anglers in Jinan, east China's Shandong Province.

A young couple, both in their 20s, noticed two dogs barking nonstop and sensed something was wrong. When they went to check the pit, they found the man trapped inside.

After several failed rescue attempts, an angler rushed over with a long fishing rod. Working together, they managed to pull the elderly man to safety.

The man's family later offered a cash reward, but the couple politely declined.
