World No. 1 Sun Yingsha defeated Kuai Man 11-9, 11-6, 9-11, 11-5, 7-11, 10-12, 11-4 over seven games in an all-Chinese women's singles final at the WTT United States Smash in Los Angeles, California, on Sunday.
Sun made the stronger start by taking the opening two games. Kuai twice fought back to force a decider, but the world No. 1 regained control in the seventh game, using her experience and consistency in the rallies to seal the title.
The victory capped a demanding week for both finalists, who each battled through difficult draws to reach the championship match. Sun booked her place in the final with a 4-1 win over compatriot Wang Yidi, while Kuai produced back-to-back comeback victories against Japanese opponents to secure China the top two spots in the women's singles event.
Kuai showed remarkable resilience throughout the tournament. She rallied from 3-1 down to defeat Hitomi Sato in the quarterfinals before overturning a 3-0 deficit against Miwa Harimoto in the semifinals, highlighting the 21-year-old's composure under pressure.
Although she fell just short in the singles final, Kuai enjoyed an outstanding tournament. Earlier on Sunday, she teamed up with Wang Manyu to defeat Japan's Hina Hayata and Miwa Harimoto 3-1 in the women's doubles final, leaving Los Angeles with one title and one runner-up finish.
Chinese paddlers finished the United States Smash with the women's singles title, the women's doubles championship, as well as the top two places in the men's doubles.
