At least 11 people were killed and one person remains missing after thunderstorms and powerful winds battered eastern Hubei Province in central China on Monday night.
Thunderstorms swept across several cities, including Huangshi, Huanggang, Ezhou and Xianning, according to the provincial emergency management department.
Tornadoes were also reported in several townships. Videos filmed by local residents showed the twisters tearing through the affected areas.
Rescue operations are underway as authorities continue to assess the damage.
