Scorching Turpan turns sand into healing therapy

CGTN

00:41

From June to August, the desert heat in Turpan becomes a natural remedy, drawing up to 800 visitors a day to its unique sand therapy. Rich in magnetic minerals, the sand is heated to 40-45°C to treat joint pain, arthritis and skin conditions. Sessions last 10-15 minutes for beginners, with a full course running around 10 days. However, doctors advise that this therapy is not suitable for people with heart disease, diabetes, or those who are pregnant.
