Beneath the scenic tracks of the Burma–Thailand "Death Railway" lies one of the darkest chapters of World War II. More than 60,000 Allied prisoners of war and 200,000 Asian forced laborers were compelled by Imperial Japanese forces to build a 415-kilometer supply line through dense jungle. Completed in just 13 months, the railway claimed more than 100,000 lives as workers endured starvation, brutal labor, and rampant disease. Before Japan's surrender 80 years ago, many records were destroyed, leaving countless victims unidentified.
