China allocates 50 million yuan for disaster relief in Hubei, Gansu

China's Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Emergency Management on Wednesday allocated 50 million yuan (about $7.3 million) in disaster relief funds to support emergency rescue and relief efforts in central China's Hubei Province and northwest China's Gansu Province following recent natural disasters.

The funding comes after a rare tornado struck Hubei and a landslide hit Tanchang County in Gansu, causing casualties and property damage.

Of the total, 20 million yuan will be used in Hubei to support the relocation and resettlement of affected residents and the reconstruction of damaged homes. Gansu will receive 30 million yuan for search and rescue operations, evacuation efforts, emergency response to geological hazards and inspections to prevent secondary disasters.

The Ministry of Finance said it will continue to monitor flood and disaster developments closely, strengthen funding support, and assist local authorities in disaster prevention and relief efforts to safeguard lives and property.

Earlier, the country's top economic planner, the National Development and Reform Commission, has allocated 50 million yuan from the central budget to support emergency recovery efforts in Hubei.
