The cross-border friendship behind a photo

In 1936, American journalist Edgar Snow came to Yuwang Town in Tongxin, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, where he took the famous photo The Voice of Resistance. The image of a young Red Army bugler under a red flag later appeared on the cover of Red Star Over China, helping the world know the Red Army's Long March. Also in Tongxin, American doctor George Hatem (Ma Haide) treated wounded soldiers and local people before choosing to stay in China. Ninety years later, descendants of these international friends returned to Tongxin, retracing the footsteps of their forebears and carrying forward a bond that transcends borders.
