The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, met with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Mr. Barham Saleh, in his office today. During this meeting, they discussed the situation of Afghan refugees, humanitarian and development assistance to returning refugees, and future cooperation with ordinary Afghans. The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs thanked the United Nations and international organizations for providing humanitarian assistance to Afghan refugees. The Honorable Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund emphasized that the United Nations and international organizations should allocate their assistance to development sectors so that returning refugees and internally displaced Afghans can have facilities in the areas of shelter, schools, electricity, clean water, employment, and other areas.
