A group of 24 young musicians from Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Washington, DC, is on its way to China for a two-week exchange camp.
"I'm very excited. I'm really looking forward to it," a young violist from Maryland said, marking his first trip to China. "I hope to make many Chinese friends and try the food."
The exchange camp will run from July 12 to 24. The delegation will visit Changzhou, Nanjing, Shanghai and Beijing, where they will engage in exchanges with Chinese youth and perform Chinese and American musical works together on the same stage.
The trip is part of the "Zhiyin Initiative" that helps young people from China and the US "find a kindred spirit through music," as the Chinese proverb goes.
