Guo Hanyu and Kristina Mladenovic ended Gabriela Dabrowski and Luisa Stefani's nine-match winning streak on grass to capture their first major title as a team, following a tense straight-sets triumph in the Wimbledon women's doubles final on Sunday in London.

The Chinese/French duo surged out of the gate, racing into a 5-0 lead in the first set. Despite a minor hiccup when Guo's serve accidentally struck Mladenovic, costing the pair a key point, they maintained control and sealed the opener 6-3.

This match marked Guo's debut in a Grand Slam final, while Mladenovic, a seasoned champion with six women's doubles major trophies and a mixed doubles crown from Wimbledon in 2013, came in looking to end her drought at the All England Club.

The second set proved tighter, but the Asian/European team's resilience would not be denied. After dispatching top seeds Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend in the quarterfinals, Guo and Mladenovic converted a crucial break to close out the contest 7-5.

Guo proudly lifted her first Grand Slam trophy, while Mladenovic added a seventh women's doubles title, and tenth overall, to an already-illustrious ledger. In the women's doubles rankings, Mladenovic is poised to climb to 13th, with Guo set to reach a career high of World No. 9.
