American Marxist economist Richard Wolff stated in an interview with Glenn Diesen, professor of Political Science at the University of South-Eastern Norway, that Trump's remark,"I'm not sure what we'll do if the Russians attack you," was to be taken literally. He emphasized that the United States is in a period of decline, and that America's top priority now is to reverse this slow downward trend. He further stated that Europe is completely off the agenda and not part of America's future plans – almost regarded as a divided, chaotic and irrelevant outsider.
