China will continue to firmly support Cuba in safeguarding its national sovereignty and opposing external interference, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said on Thursday.
Spokesperson Lin Jian made the remarks at a daily press briefing in response to reports that senior officials of the United States Department of Defense have recently studied the possibility of launching military operations against Cuba.
The United States should immediately cease any form of military threat and blockade against Cuba, Lin added.
China firmly opposes the use or threat of force in international relations, Lin said, adding that such actions seriously violate the UN Charter and pose a grave threat to global and regional peace and security.
