A civilian was killed and two others, including a police officer and the suspected gunman, were wounded in a shooting in northern Denmark on Friday afternoon, local police said.

The suspected gunman, identified only as a man, was seriously injured and taken to hospital, while the wounded police officer was in stable condition, police said.

Police said they remained heavily deployed to the area and had yet to determine what prompted the shooting.
