A devastating mountain collapse in Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County, southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, has left 8 people dead and 34 others missing. Ongoing heavy rainfall has hindered search and rescue operations. In response, China has activated a Level II national emergency response, deploying hundreds of rescuers to the site while safely evacuating over 1,100 locals.
