China's industrial and information technology sector continued to expand steadily in the first half of 2026, with rapid development in computing power, artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing and high-tech exports, according to a press conference held by the State Council Information Office on Monday.

Computing power, seen as a key resource in the digital economy era, has grown significantly. By the end of June, China's intelligent computing capacity had reached 2,185 EFLOPS, meaning the country's AI computing systems could perform 2,185 quintillion floating-point operations per second. The overall utilization rate of computing facilities nationwide reached 71.4% with 52 intelligent computing facilities equipped with more than 10,000 AI accelerators each already in operation.

China has also expanded data transmission capacity. Over the past two years, more than 70 major computing power transmission channels have been built around national computing hubs, improving network performance between major computing clusters by about 10%.

The country will continue optimizing the deployment of computing power infrastructure, improving connectivity between computing facilities and raising the efficiency of resource utilization, according to its Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Meanwhile, China has developed more than 400 complete humanoid robot products, accounting for over half of the world's total, highlighting the country's rapidly expanding presence in the robotics sector.

In the first half of the year, China-developed quadruped robots account for nearly 70% of global sales, according to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Global demand for AI technologies and green transformation remained strong. In the first half of the year, China's export value of integrated circuit products, electronic components and wind turbine equipment, denominated in yuan, increased by 88.7%, 62.6% and 35.6% year on year, respectively.
