Inspired by the legendary Dunhuang murals, young creators are bringing ancient Chinese art to life through dance. From recreating the graceful poses of Flying Apsaras – celestial figures often depicted dancing and flying in Dunhuang art – to performing in front of the historic caves, their original moves blend tradition with modern creativity.

Located in Dunhuang, northwest China's Gansu Province, the Mogao Caves date back to AD 366 and are home to thousands of murals and sculptures created over more than 1,600 years. The artworks preserve ancient stories of religion, art, music and dance. Today, a new generation is finding its own way to connect with this timeless cultural heritage.
