Footage released by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) on July 18 shows US forces launching what the military says are precision strikes targeting Iranian military capabilities for the eighth consecutive night. CENTCOM says they were partly to "punish" Iran for an attack it waged on Friday on a base in Jordan which killed two US soldiers and left another missing in action. The strikes were also to "degrade Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz," CENTCOM said. Iran has condemned the latest US strikes, with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei warning Washington of "unforgettable lessons" as the conflict escalates.
