In the capital of Guatemala, a group of young people are keeping China’s lion dance tradition alive on the other side of the world through sheer perseverance and passion.

Their parents crossed oceans to settle in Guatemala. Their children were born and raised on its soil. In the interweaving of Chinese and Central American cultures, they found their identity through the lion dance. 

In this episode of "Like in China," host Pablo Coppari documents how descendants of Chinese immigrants are passing down kung fu and lion dance techniques at martial arts schools founded by their fathers, and attracting a growing number of new students.
