Thick smoke from persistent wildfires across Canada has blanketed communities along the border with the United States, reducing visibility on highways, worsening air quality and triggering smoke advisories.

Canada is battling more than 900 active wildfires, with over 3.3 million hectares consumed so far this year. In British Columbia, residents and travelers have reported breathing difficulties. Firefighters said smoke does not recognize borders as blazes continue burning on both sides.
