In Jingdezhen, two millennium-old traditions have converged: the heritage of the "Three Su's" – the celebrated Song Dynasty literary family – and the city's ancient ceramic craftsmanship. Su Yuanyang, founder of the Su Gong Kiln series, and his daughter Su Xinyue, a second-generation inheritor, are breathing new life into this history by translating classical narratives onto porcelain.

Central to their latest collection is the Calming the Wave series. Inspired by the iconic 1082 poem written by their ancestor, Su Dongpo, during his exile in Huanggang City, Hubei, the design captures the essence of his famous "straw-cloaked life in mist and rain," which represents "Chinese romance rests in poetic expression," according to Su Xinyue. By integrating iconic works like Along the River During the Qingming Festival with the philosophical depth of Song poetry, the family provides a clean aesthetic that invites modern audiences to engage with the calm, resilient mindset of their ancestors.
