American ceramic artist Michael May has made Jingdezhen, the world's porcelain capital, his creative laboratory. By integrating advanced 3D printing technology with ancestral ceramic techniques, May is redefining the boundaries of the craft. His process begins with digital design and animation, ensuring that each piece achieves a perfect balance between intricate modern geometry and functional elegance.

Beyond the screen, May's work is deeply rooted in the local ceramic heritage. In his studio, he actively experiments with traditional materials – such as incorporating cobalt blue pigments directly into his 3D-printing clay – to preserve Jingdezhen's iconic "blue and white" aesthetic. For May, the mission is not to replace the past but to adapt it, creating a symbiotic relationship where technology breathes new life into thousand-year-old traditions.
