A large wildfire broke out on Italy's Gargano peninsula on Sunday, forcing hundreds of tourists and beachgoers to evacuate and leading to road closures between the coastal towns of Peschici and Vieste.
Fire crews, civil protection teams and aircraft, including Canadair water bombers, were deployed to contain the flames as strong winds pushed smoke across the area. No casualties were reported.
