China is stepping up efforts to build a tourism powerhouse. Under the "Tourism Powerhouse Construction 15th Five-Year Plan" issued by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, domestic travel spending is expected to hit 7.7 trillion yuan, or more than 1.1 trillion US dollars, by 2030.
