Scorching heatwaves have swept across many parts of the globe this summer, driving a sharp rise in demand for cool summer getaways.
At the foot of the Great Wall in Beijing – one of the Eight Wonders of the World – summer temperatures are four to five degrees Celsius lower than in the city center. The local village recently welcomed a group of tourists from Hungary. They wandered around historical buildings, sampled Chinese barbecue, visited a local craft brewery and tried their hand at making traditional Chinese specialties, including dumplings and hand-pulled noodles.
With China's extension of its unilateral visa‑free policy for Hungarian citizens and increasingly convenient direct flights, more and more Hungarian tour groups are now heading to China.
