The China Media Group (CMG) launched the first Intelligent Robotics Skills Showcase in Beijing on Tuesday, spotlighting the application of embodied artificial intelligence (AI) in real-world scenarios.

The event will demonstrate, test and improve capabilities of intelligent robots in key application scenarios such as manufacturing, maintenance and repair, warehousing and logistics, catering and retail, and emergency rescue, highlighting the shift from laboratories to workplace.

It aims to promote smart manufacturing and relevant innovations and provide impetus for the advancement of new industrialization as well as the cultivation and growth of new quality productive forces.

At the event, China's latest industrial robotics data was released, revealing that Chinese-brand industrial robots now cover 253 sectors of the national economy, with their sales posing an average annual growth rate of 29% over the past five years.

In 2025, China's industrial robot exports surpassed imports for the first time, with products reaching 156 countries and regions worldwide, the data showed.

Another report released at the event outlined eight major trends in robot evolution, such as base restructuring, leaps in intelligent capabilities, cluster collaboration, all-domain penetration, and security fence construction.

The event also launched the inaugural CMG World Robot Mount Tai Challenge, testing robots' mobility, endurance and adaptability on one of China's iconic mountains.
