China on Tuesday hosted the High-level Meeting on the Global Development Initiative, or GDI, bringing together UN officials and diplomatic envoys of member states of the Group of Friends of the GDI in China. The meeting in Beijing came after the initiative was proposed by China about five years ago. Noting that more than 130 countries and international organizations now support the initiative, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed China's commitment to advancing the GDI.
