Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, told The Economist that China is already strong in robotics and digital AI, and is home to several leading robotics companies. With its vast electricity generation capacity and projected growth in computing power, China has a strong chance of being "the leaders at some point." While Washington can pass laws to bar US companies from using Chinese AI models, Musk added, it can't stop the rest of the world from adopting them.
