China and the European Union (EU) have agreed to hold the second meeting of the China-EU trade and investment consultation mechanism this autumn, a commerce official said on Thursday.

Over the past month, both sides have been actively implementing the outcomes of the first meeting and making full preparations for the second, He Yadong, spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce, said at a regular press briefing in response to intensive consultations between the two sides recently.

The working teams from both sides have held more than 20 consultations, while the four workstreams under the China-EU Trade and Investment Consultation Mechanism have conducted in-depth, professional exchanges on each other's economic and trade concerns, He said.

China is willing to continue maintaining high-frequency communication with the EU, respect each other and work in the same direction to explore practical and feasible solutions to trade and economic issues of mutual concern, promote balanced and positive development of bilateral trade, and maintain the stability and balance of the China-EU key trading partnership, He said.
