The Chinese mainland says that it will continue to remove obstacles to cross-Strait exchanges and help Taiwan compatriots trace their roots and reunite with their relatives on the mainland. Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, made the remarks in response to a question about "Going Home," an upcoming film based on the true story of a Taiwan village chief who helped return the ashes of more than 400 veterans to the mainland. While some in Taiwan have described the film as a tool for promoting reunification, Chen quoted Taiwan poet Yu Guangzhong’s poem "Nostalgia," saying that it reflects the veterans' deep longing for their homeland.
