The city of Sansha in south China's Hainan Province is strengthening marine conservation from the shoreline to the open sea. Coral restoration projects have revived large areas of reef, while innovative conservation measures combining community patrols with smart monitoring are helping to protect endangered sea turtles. Together with cleaner coastal waters and healthier island ecosystems, these efforts are creating a rich marine habitat in the South China Sea.
