Japanese destroyer conducts live-fire test of Tomahawk missile

Japan's Defense Ministry said on Thursday that a Maritime Self-Defense Force's destroyer conducted a live-fire test of a Tomahawk cruise missile in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of the United States.

According to Japanese media, the destroyer is expected to return to the Sasebo naval base in Nagasaki Prefecture around September.

The US-made Tomahawk is a subsonic long-range cruise missile with a maximum range of more than 2,000 kilometers.
