Around 60,000 people crossed into Ceuta, a Spanish port city in North Africa, over the past couple of days, causing one of the European Union's biggest-ever migratory crises. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez called it "a violation of Spain's territorial integrity" and blamed "immigration mafias" for the mass movement. While analysis continues into the broader geopolitical causes and consequences, dozens of people have lost their lives and many more are now suffering from a lack of food and shelter.
