Thousands of migrants entered Ceuta on Thursday, placing severe pressure on local reception facilities and security services. Spain's government has deployed armed forces stationed in the North African enclave of Ceuta to support the Civil Guard.

The death toll from crossings was raised to at least 67 on Saturday, but Spanish officials said there could be additional casualties on the Moroccan side of the border.
