Hundreds of firefighters battled on Saturday to protect the coastal resort of Porto Germeno, about 60 kilometers northwest of Athens, as gale-force winds fueled wildfires across Greece. The blaze, which spread from Boeotia into western Attica, forced evacuations in several communities, including Porto Germeno. More than 300 firefighters, supported by ground crews and emergency services, were deployed, though strong winds temporarily grounded aerial firefighting aircraft.
