Chinese center Han Xu reaches 500-point milestone in WNBA career

Chinese center Han Xu reached 500 career points in the WNBA, highlighting the New York Liberty's 94-92 road victory against the Phoenix Mercury on Saturday.

Coming off the bench as a reserve, Han scored a season-high 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field, including 3-of-6 from three-point range, while also grabbing six rebounds and distributing one assist.

Selected 14th overall by New York in the 2019 WNBA Draft, Han reached the milestone a little over midway through her fourth WNBA season, in which she is averaging 5.8 points and 2.2 rebounds per game.

Sabrina Ionescu led the Liberty with 27 points, to go along with a season-high 10 assists and seven rebounds.

Phoenix rattled off a 17-4 run in the third quarter to surge into a 10-point advantage, before New York closed the period with a 12-1 burst, taking a 66-65 lead into the fourth quarter.

Rebecca Allen's three-pointer with just over a minute remaining extended the visiting side's edge to 92-84. The Mercury responded by scoring the next six points, but Breanna Stewart's free throw with 12.7 seconds left sealed the win for the Liberty.
