Recently, while reviewing infrared camera data, researchers from the Baima Snow Mountain National Nature Reserve in southwest China's Yunnan Province discovered the reserve's first footage of a wild Eurasian lynx, a national second-class protected species.

The lynx is highly sensitive to the integrity of native vegetation and the continuity of the local food chain, making it a core indicator species for assessing the health of alpine ecosystems. This discovery provides strong evidence of the reserve's ecological integrity, the completeness of its food chain, and the effectiveness of regional biodiversity conservation efforts.
