Guatemala ordered evacuations in southern communities after the Fuego volcano erupted, sending ash columns up to 6,000 meters high, along with lava and gas down its slopes. Authorities issued an orange alert, closed a nearby highway and suspended classes. Fuego, one of the country's most active volcanoes, caused a deadly eruption in 2018 that killed hundreds.
