A Chinese commercial space debris monitoring satellite has tracked and recorded the impact of a SpaceX Falcon 9 upper stage – left adrift in space after a January 2025 mission – on the moon.

The Gande-1 01 satellite, launched from China on July 24, captured high-value images of the rocket debris striking the lunar surface about 380,000 kilometers away. The satellite was developed by a Wuxi-based space company in east China's Jiangsu Province.
