Annual maintenance has begun on the Ali-Central Xizang power grid link in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region. Workers will check high-altitude transmission facilities over 14 days. This marks the third major annual inspection since the project was put into operation.

Commissioned in 2020, the 1,689-kilometer transmission project, with towers averaging 4,572 meters above sea level, is one of the world's highest-altitude power transmission projects. It connected Ali Prefecture to Xizang's main power grid, ending the region's long-standing isolated power supply.

Emergency power vehicles, micro grids and backup generators have been deployed to help ensure a stable electricity supply for residents during the maintenance period.
