The highest-altitude section of the Aba–Chengdu East 1,000-kilovolt ultra-high-voltage (UHV) AC power transmission project has been completed in Lixian County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China's Sichuan Province.
Located in Lixian County, the section has an average elevation of more than 3,500 meters, where construction crews faced thin oxygen and harsh plateau weather. The transmission corridor will connect major clean energy stations in western Sichuan, helping deliver renewable electricity to the Chengdu Plain.
When the whole project goes online by the end of this year, it will deliver large amounts of clean power to Sichuan, Chongqing and other parts of the country.
