Ten terrorists were killed in two separate engagements with security forces in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military said Friday.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani military, said in a statement that eight terrorists were killed after they attempted to attack security forces' checkposts in the Azam Warsak area of South Waziristan district on Thursday.

In another engagement in Dir district, security forces killed two more terrorists, said the ISPR.

Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the killed terrorists, who remained actively involved in terrorist activities in the area, according to the statement.

Sanitization operations are being conducted to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area, it added.
