US President Donald Trump signed two executive orders on Thursday aimed at further restricting birthright citizenship.

One of the orders targets "birth tourism," defined as the entry of any foreign national into the US on a nonimmigrant visa for the purpose of giving birth on US soil, or any effort by foreigners to facilitate such entry, according to the White House.

The other order includes definitions of people ineligible for birthright citizenship, including children of foreign government employees, children of members of a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization, as well as children of people engaged in fraudulent activity to obtain citizenship.

"It's a disgrace," Trump said after signing an order banning birthright citizenship for children born to temporary visitors in the US.

"Wealthy people are building businesses around birthright citizenship. That's not the way it was supposed to work," Trump told journalists in the Oval Office, after the Supreme Court struck down his previous effort to restrict the constitutionally granted right.
