"China Cool" is the trend sweeping social media this summer as global travelers seek a refreshing escape for both body and mind. In China, they're discovering experiences that blend historical sites with futuristic science against a backdrop of breathtaking natural landscapes.

Everyone's journey is unique. British vlogger Luke is conducting academic research in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. In this video, he takes viewers beyond the iconic International Grand Bazaar to explore a lesser-known side of Xinjiang. Just a short drive from the city center, he discovers the grasslands and mountains of Shirengou, where visitors can go horseback riding, hiking, fly kites and enjoy spectacular sunsets.

For him, Xinjiang's appeal lies in its diversity: vibrant urban life and distinctive architecture in Urumqi sit alongside vast grasslands, mountains and lakes, while destinations such as Ili and Kashi are also accessible by train or car. His summer road trip offers a fresh perspective on Xinjiang, showing how the region combines city exploration, outdoor adventure and stunning natural landscapes in one journey.
