Ribbon dragon dance adds a colorful twist to fitness in Guangxi

At Canghai Sports Park in Wuzhou, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, residents are dancing with colorful ribbon dragons to celebrate National Fitness Day, observed annually in China on August 8 to commemorate the legacy of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Also known as "swinging dragons," the activity draws inspiration from traditional Chinese dragon dances, with a small dragon head and a body and tail made of flowing silk fabric. Easy to learn and requiring little space, ribbon dragon dancing combines exercise, entertainment and performance, bringing a fresh twist to everyday fitness.
