China's summer cinema season is maintaining strong momentum, with total box-office revenues surpassing 8.12 billion yuan (about $1.2 billion) as of Friday night. The surge is being driven by a compelling mix of domestic blockbusters and major international releases.

Homegrown hits Kung Fu Soccer and All Wishes Come True are leading the seasonal charts alongside Hollywood's Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Among the standout animated releases, All Wishes Come True has emerged as a breakout hit, grossing over 1.3 billion yuan (about $193 million) to enter China's top 10 highest-grossing animated films of all time. Reimagining the classic legend of the Eight Immortals through ordinary human experiences, the film explores universal themes of compassion and courage, and is now preparing for an international theatrical rollout.

Imported features are also making a major impact. Spider-Man: Brand New Day debuted in the Chinese mainland two days before its North American premiere, underscoring Hollywood's focus on the market. Earning 210 million yuan (about $31.1 million) on opening day alone, the film crossed the $1 billion mark globally within its first week.
