Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Sunday that there are currently no negotiations between Iran and the United States, though mediators are still seeking ways to resume talks and the two sides are exchanging messages through intermediaries.

Araghchi said that while efforts are underway to create conditions for resuming negotiations, Iran believes there are no grounds for restarting talks until the United States makes amends for what Tehran deems its prior breaches of understandings.

The Iranian foreign minister also said Iran and Oman are holding consultations on adjusting shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz and that the process has entered its final stage. He stressed that even if an agreement on the route adjustments is reached, it would not mean the Strait of Hormuz has reopened, adding that a number of conditions still need to be met before the waterway can reopen.

According to Araghchi, the two sides are discussing replacing the existing route with a new one, and experts are currently carrying out technical work related to the plan.
