Emergency response underway as Typhoon Dolphin hits east China

Chinese cities affected by Typhoon Dolphin, the 13th typhoon of the year, are taking measures to protect lives and property. The severe typhoon made landfall in Yuhuan, Zhejiang Province, on Sunday afternoon, sustaining winds of up to 42 meters per second. Zhejiang activated its highest-level typhoon response, while coastal areas suspended work, classes, transport and business activities. Strong winds and heavy rain also hit Fujian and Shanghai, with more than 1 million people evacuated and over 1,700 flights canceled across the Yangtze River Delta.
